Mindfulness in Nature
If you love meeting people, walking outside, and learning more about the benefits of immersing ourselfes in nature, then this program is for you. This weekly program starts in mid May and ends in mid September. We need many trained volunteers to pull this off. Use the "Drop Us A Line" submission tool below to express your interest and to receive more information.
Create Your Own Program
If you have a topic of special interest and want to share your knowledge, meet with the park naturalist to discuss and receive approval for this opportunity. A good venue at the park is the Kisrow Classroom in the campground. Saturday evening programs are a welcome addition to the camping weekend.
Lead a "Birding Hike"
Meet with the park naturalist and get approval to lead a birding hike--using some of the 15 miles of nature trails available in the park.
Lead a Full Moon Event
During the months of May through September, FOCW would like to sponsor a Full Moon hike for about an hour to various spots in the park. These are scheduled on a weekend date that is closest to the full moon. If you would like to become a leader, use the "Drop Us A Line" submission tool below to express your interest and to receive more information.
Help with Winter Recreation
Chester Woods will soon be renting winter recreation equipment to the public. This will include cross country skis and boots, snow shoes, and kick sleds. Use the "Drop Us A Line" submission form if you would like to help the park staff with organizing and renting this equipment to the public. This will start in 2023.
Contact Park Manager, Tom Eckdahl to set up an appointment to explore your volunteer opportunities.
