Hiking and General Trail Monitoring
There are 15 miles of trails at Chester Woods. These trails need to be cleared of fallen limbs, checked for erosion, and frequently upgraded with mulch.
Horse trail monitoring
Those that have equestrian permits may enjoy monitoring the trails and notifying the park staff when enforcement or trail hazard attention is needed. Hiking, park ATV's and horseback are methods of patrolling.
Wildflower Interpretation
During the months of April - October, offering help to identify and label wildflowers in bloom and plants of specific interest along the trails is greatly appreciated. This activity can be updated every 2 weeks.
Weed Warriors
Volunteer year round to control invasive species and from mid summer to late fall harvest prairie seed which is then used in our county parks.
Buckthorn Beavers
Volunteer year round using a herbicide for basal bark spraying for purpose of removing buckthorn from the park.
